Just got back from a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Almost all of the miles I traveled were covered via train.

While trying to sleep in coach seating for six nights was not just less-than-ideal, but truly exhausting, I *love* how trying to sleep at any/all times of day is normal on these long-distance train rides.

People tend to get very offended by humans sleeping (or attempting to sleep) in public, or even just shutting our eyes for a break. It’s a huge relief to be able to shut down, conk out, and even break out a blanket and/or pillow in a populated location without being told “you’re not allowed to do that here”, or be eyeballed like you are an undesirable and/or someone who is shirking their social obligations by resting.

It makes me happy to see people not giving sleep a second thought, behaving with complete entitlement to get as comfortable as possible and grab some zzzzz’s whenever they feel like it on the train. As we all should, almost everywhere.
